Art for Life: Student Art Competition

Due to a low number of entries, we have made the decision to suspend the competition for this year. We are planning to hold the competition for the 2024-2025 school year, so please check back to this website in the Fall.

Guidelines, Criteria, and Procedures

  • Contest is open to all Catholic Students in Grades 9 – 12 attending high school or homeschooled in Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties

  • All work must be original and created by the student. No plagiarized images will be accepted.

  • Accepted media include:
    • Painting (watercolor, acrylic, or oil)
    • Drawing
    • Mixed Media
    • Photography
    • Digital Drawing
    • 3D/Sculpture
  • All 2D entries must be matted or mounted on paper at least poster board weight. 

  • Artwork must address one of the following 3 Themes:
    1. I Am the Pro Life Generation
    2. Every Life is Beautiful
    3. Lives Lost to the Culture of Death

  • Each submission must be accompanied by a brief Artist’s Statement (100 words or less) that explains how the art corresponds to the chosen theme.

  • Submissions should not include images or promote themes that are contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Submissions will be accepted and displayed at the discretion of the St. Peter Respect Life Committee.

  • An entry form which includes a brief description of the proposed work (medium, approximate size, theme) must be submitted online by February 15th, 2024. Entry forms can be found at here.
    • There is a $10.00 entry fee
    • One entry per person

  • Entries must be dropped off at the St. Peter Celebration Center (2835 Manor Road, West Brandywine, PA 19320) on Thursday, March 14th from 5:00-8:00pm.

  • Artwork will be judged on creativity, originality, color, composition, technique and how well it corresponds to and expresses the chosen theme.

  • Judging will take place on Saturday, March 16th with awards recognition and reception  to follow 5:30-7:30pm. Free admission to the reception for artists and an accompanying adult. Additional tickets will be available at the door.

  • Prizes will be awarded as follows:
    • First Prize, ($250)
    • Second Prize ($150)
    • Third Prize ($100)
    • Honorable Mention ribbons will be awarded at the judges’ discretion.

  • A Gallery Exhibition will take place on Sunday, March 17th, 9:00-1:00 at the St. Peter Celebration Center (2835 Manor Road, West Brandywine, PA 19320).
    The Gallery Exhibition will be free and open to the public.

  • Artwork must be picked up at the conclusion of the Gallery Exhibition or it will become the property of the St. Peter Respect Life Committee.
